=====================

Wolverhampton Swimming Club is one of the oldest Sports Clubs in Wolverhampton and over the years has produced some exceptional swimmers who have competed at the highest level.

In 2006 WSC commenced training sessions at Central Baths which  has enabled us to move forward and develop a vision to create a strong competitive club.

The Club holds training sessions every weekday evening and Saturday morning at Central Baths and also utilises Colton Hills School 6 lane pool twice weekly, plus Aldersley High School 6 lane pool once a week.  Due to the amount of pooltime and lane space available WSC has been able to develop a Performance Group whose focus is to achieve Regional and National Qualifying times.  These swimmers will soon be able to access 15 hours per week with the addition of two morning sessions.

The development and progression of the Club has been made possible by the support of the City of Wolverhampton Leisure Services Dept. and the hard work of Poolside Staff and Committee Members.

WSC Sponsored Swim - Update

WSC held its annual sponsored swim at Central Baths on Tuesday 15th June. It was a successful event with 76 swimmers taking part.

The swim is in aid of two local charities, Compton Hospice and Teenage Cancer Trust, and to raise much needed funds for the club.

The Statistical Bit

The 76 swimmers swam a total of 8,672 lengths of the pool, which is 216,800 metres.  This is nearly 217 kilometres, or 135 miles, which is equivalent to a swim from Wolverhampton to London and a further 10 miles along the Thames.

The average number of lengths per swimmer was 114, or 2,850 metres, or 1.77 miles.  The highest number of lengths swam was 192 (achieved by two swimmers) and the lowest number was 40.

What Happens Next?

All swimmers should now collect their sponsor money and hand it in along with their sponsor forms as soon as possible.  We will then be able to pass on the proceeds to the two charities and the club.

Thank you very much to all the swimmers and everyone who helped with length counting and other duties.
