On the 11th of June 2005 at the Icklepeople gala in Wolverhampton, Helen Ward president of WSC awarded Matt Mitchell the "Presidents Trophy".

Matt Mitchell

Matt joined Wolverhampton Swimming Club in 1983. He regularly competed for the club and became the Club Captain in 1990. Since this time he has served 15 continuous years on the Committee with the last 4 years as the clubs Treasurer.

Matt also sits on the Staffordshire ASA Executive, Staffordshire Swimming Committee and Staffordshire League Committee.

He has been one of the driving forces behind the club gaining accreditation in the ASA's "Swim 21" award.

During his time in swimming Matt has developed his own meet management system which he operates for all the Wolverhampton Open Meets. His system is also used for the Staffordshire Masters Championships, Midland Masters Championships and the National Masters ASA Inter County Championships.

The system "Icklepeople Software" is recognised by a number of commercial suppliers and many could learn from its operation.

Matt Mitchell has been a first class servant of Wolverhampton Swimming Club who would be lost without his expertise and skills in the organisation of events and it is for these sound reasons that the past holders of the Presidents Trophy nominated him for 2005
