Wolverhampton
Swimming Club
Monthly Committee Meeting October 2005
"In
Brief"
Our
meeting this month started on a very sad note with the
news that Bert Nevin had passed away. Bert was a long
serving member of Wolverhampton Swimming Club Committee
and was our Treasurer before he became ill. We held
a 1minutes silence for him and our President Mrs Helen
Ward will be sending a card of condolence.
It
was felt that there was some urgency needed in sorting
out courses for our poolside helpers to attend. Although
some of them have attended Continuing Professional Development
courses (CPD) they now need to get their assistant teachers
qualification. Ian Hadley managed to locate one himself
and is to be congratulated on passing the course.
Jane
sent us a very lengthy report which the committee felt
warranted a deeper discussion with Jane and so a meeting
was arranged for 3rd November where we could give the
report our attention.
The
meeting ended with a piece of good news from our President,
Helen Ward. Mrs Ward’s eldest daughter Kate, a
member of Wolverhampton Swimming Club, has been presented
with a special award for the under 25s at the Young
Volunteers for 2012 CCPR Fundraising Luncheon at St
James’ Palace in London. The award was presented
by HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh for eight years
devoted to volunteering in swimming. For more information
regarding her career in swimming, log on to, www.Britishswimming.org
We
were also informed that another member of the family,
Tony Ward, received the Silver Pin for services to National
swimming.
Carol
Cockayne Hon Secretary.
